. . . And the Odyssey Begins!

This morning started out great - I got last minute things done around the house and took care of the dogs before I left Santa Fe to drive to Albuquerque to catch my flight to St. Louis. The drive to Albuquerque was nice, I missed all the traffic and arrived at the airport without incident. Even going through check in and security went smooth. I arrived at the gate and decided to read while waiting for the flight. Here is where things take a slightly nasty turn. I noticed after about 15 minutes that the gate area was getting busy and I thought, 'Man, this is going to be one crowded flight!'. A few minutes later they announced that another flight had a gate change and they were leaving from the gate I was at - that explained all the extra people. Another couple of minutes passed and another announcement was made. My flight to St. Louis had been delayed and the gate changed from A11 to A7 and the time from 10:50am to 2:15pm. As compensation we all received a $100 voucher for the inconvenience. So I found a nice quiet spot to set up the computer and play. While surfing the net we got another announcement that our flight was now delayed until 2:40pm and the gate number was unknown for the time being. So I spent my time walking around (and for anyone who has flown into or out of the Albuquerque Sunport there isn't all that much space to walk around) and playing on the computer. After two time changes and four gate changes we were ready to board the plane and head for St. Louis. We ended up having a four hour delay and instead of arriving in St. Louis at 2:00pm I arrived at 6:15pm and by the time I got my bag and the shuttle to the rental car place it was 7:00pm. I ended up checking in to the hotel at 7:30pm. Not the day I had planned but I am glad to be here and settled into the hotel. Tomorrow I am going to spend the day in St. Louis - still not sure exactly what I am going to do but I am sure it will be fun. Talk to you tomorrow.
