The Rain and The Road

Thomas had to be at his conference at 7:30am so we got up around 6:30am and got our bags packed. Thomas left for his meetings and I finished packing. Once I had all the bags together I thought about what I was going to do for the morning. Unfortunately it was cold and raining. And not just a little drizzle but hard rain. So I decided to sit in the room and read for a while. Around 9:00am I got all our things into the car and had everything ready for when Thomas' meetings were done. I then went across the street from the hotel to Espresso Exposé for a little breakfast and coffee. I sat and surf the internet and read some blogs. I also got a few emails out. I eventually got tired of sitting in the coffee shop so I left there and put my computer in the car and grabbed my book. I then went to the building where Thomas was having his meeting and sat in a comfy little chair next to a fireplace and waited for Thomas to be done. The rain continued all morning and the temperatures were between 32° and 35°, so very wet and cold. Thomas ended up getting out a little early and he met me in the lobby and we walked to the car. It was still raining and there were also little ice crystals coming down. We got settled in the car and headed east.
The drive was not great. It rained the entire day. We drove from Minneapolis and about an hour later we stopped to have a little lunch and then it was back on the road. We made our way to Madison, WI then onto Milwaukee, WI. From there we headed south to Illinois and about 30 minutes north of Chicago we stopped for dinner and to get out of the traffic and rain. Finally around 8:30pm we arrived in Hammond, IN where we are staying the night. It has been a long day and we decided that driving in the rain sucks. Tomorrow we head into Michigan and I hope the rain slows down a bit.
