Event Bound

This morning I woke up in College Station and got an early start. After a quick breakfast I headed out to Central Park to look for one of Silver Eagle's boxes. I had a little trouble with the landmarks but I tried a few different things and checked behind numerous trees. Unfortunately I didn't find the box. So I left College Station and headed over to Bryan. I arrived at Camelot Park to look for another of Silver Eagle's boxes. I liked the walk in this park - it wasn't long but it was nice and this time I easily found the box. I found a log to sit on and stamped in. Once the box was back in place I returned to my car and decided to head north (well actually northwest) toward Mexia.

The next stop that I had planned was in Hearne. I was going to look for the Crossroads of Texas box by Team King. So I left the main highway into Hearne and traveled almost eight miles to an out of the way cemetery. It was about mid morning and the area was pretty isolated and it was very quiet and peaceful. I had to walk around and find a certain grave, this gave me an opportunity to check out the head stones. I found the box and found a nice spot to sit and stamp in. I was really liking the peace and quiet but decided it was time to move on.

So I drove to Groesbeck and found my hotel and then continued on to Mexia and found the restaurant where we were meeting for dinner. Then I drove a little further northwest to Tehuacana. This town was the original home of Trinity University and the old building is still there. It is a really nice building but needs a lot of TLC. I passed the building and found the cemetery. I found Boots Tex's The Sentinel Ghost of Tehuacana Hills and took the box back to the car to stamp in. I went to put the box back in its hiding spot and then walked around looking at some of the head stones. Then I noticed cars beginning to park at the entrance so I returned to my car and headed out. As I was leaving town I passed the funeral procession heading to the cemetery and was glad that I had put the box back before all those people arrived. Once I was back in Mexia I decided to head to Fort Parker State Park.

I checked in at the office, paid my fees and got a map. Then I drove off out of the way and looked at the clues I had and mapped them out. My first stop was at The Old Springfield Cemetery and I found Texas Heroes and met up with Barefoot Lucy at the same time. Then I drove to the picnic area and hit the Nature Trail. I found Sitting Pretty, AZ Armadillo and Cynthia Ann Parker. While I was stamping in at that last box I heard someone over on the other side of the trail. I thought they were just talking amongst themselves while trying to find the box. It turned out to be CanCan and her LSS and they were roaring at me - too funny. When I got back to the car I checked my list of boxes and realized I had another clue for a box in the park. So I found it and realized it that the trail I needed started where I was. So I set out again and found Native American Church. As I got back to the car CanCan had returned as well and they explained the roaring and we had a nice chat before heading our separate ways.

There weren't any other boxes to find so I decided to go to the hotel and get checked it and cleaned up. While there I logged in my finds and then went over things for the Native Feast tonight at Frankie's. I left the hotel around 5:35pm and headed to the restaurant. We had quite a large group and we were taking up most of the tables in the restaurant. It was a nice time but the tables were too small to do any stamping, so I guess I will have to get exchanges and personal travelers tomorrow. I had a nice meal and a great time visiting with everyone. So now I need to get some rest - T.A.L.E. 8 - Go Native! is tomorrow.
