After spending about an hour and a half in the cemetery I made my way to Memorial Park. There are so many boxes in the Park and there are multiple areas to the Park so I wasn't sure where to start. I opted to start near the rugby field. With the car parked I walked to the trail map and noticed a sign that the multi-use trails were closed. But I also noticed that there were plenty of bikers and walkers going back toward the trails so I decided it was okay and headed out. The first area I went to was the ruins of Camp Logan. I had clues to two boxes in the area. I looked for one near the ruins but it wasn't to be found so I moved on to the next one a little further down the trail. I was having trouble finding this box as well but decided to return to the ruins and start again. This time I found 'a' box. When I opened it the stamp didn't seem to go with the clues and box I was looking for so I read the clues for the first box I looked for and the stamp seemed to go with that one. So I looked for Flat Danley Goes to Texas and Baxley's Letterboxing Weekend. I think I found Flat Danley (that is what I logged in anyway). I returned to the parking area and started down the trail past the rugby field. I had the clue for So Long and Thanks for the Boxes Houston and I made an attempt to find it. The first thing I noticed about Memorial Park is that there are a lot of down trees after all the storms they have had the past few years. So that made it hard to follow some of the clues. After about 15 minutes of searching I gave up on that box and headed to the bike trails. When I got to the first intersection - the one with the purple, red and yellow trails - I decided to head down the red trail. Not the main red trail but the one that runs behind the baseball fields. Unfortunately that area is a really big mess and I had a lot of difficulty finding anything. I looked for the first box for NADA CLUE and The Batter's Box. I didn't find either so I headed out again and I ended up walking the red, blue and purple trails (I know, I started out at the purple, red and yellow trails). I followed clues to a bunch of boxes - I didn't find Bones, 3 of the Let's Play Stratego Series and 3 of the NADA CLUE Series. I did find 2 of the Let's Play Stratego Series (Flag & Spy), Risk Game - Horseman Card, NFL Series - Box 1 - Houston Texans, Cola Wars: Choice D, Kayak Girl #2, Rain Deer, The Cowardly Lion of Oz, Jabberwocky, The Writing's on the Wall (2 boxes) and 2 of the NADA CLUE Series (Mrs. Peacock & Miss Scarlett). It was a good day of letterboxing - even with the humidity, the mosquitoes and the abundance of fallen trees. So I wrapped things up at around 4:00pm and headed back to the hotel (which was only 5 minutes away) to get cleaned up for meeting up with my friend, Regina.

From Letterboxing to a Rodeo
Yesterday was a great start to my letterboxing trip to Houston. I had a great time letterboxing and enjoyed a wonderful dinner with friends. Today after a relaxing breakfast I gathered my things to head out for more letterboxing. The plan for the day - Glenwood Cemetery, Memorial Park, meet up with Regina in the evening.
So I headed out to Glenwood Cemetery, it only took me about 10 minutes to get there from the hotel. My first stop was the Office. I talked to the woman at the desk and got a map. She was extremely nice and pointed out all the special graves I should see. Once I got back in the car I studied the map and found where I needed to be to find the six letterboxes I had clues for. I followed the route so I wouldn't have to backtrack and enjoyed the amazing statues and graves, stopping along the way to take pictures. I visited the graves of Howard Hughes, William Hobby, Ross Sterling, James Henderson, Col. B. F. Terry and Gene Tierney. I found all the boxes I looked for. They were Ghosts of Glenwood Cemetery: Howard Hughes, Angel Band, Benjamin Franklin Terry, GTT - Texas Governors Series, The Post Man 2 - Texas Governors Series and Ghosts of Glenwood Cemetery: Gene Tierney. I didn't have any problems finding any of the boxes. This was the perfect way to start the day - a peaceful morning in a place of rest.

So I wrapped things up at around 4:00pm and headed back to the hotel (which was only 5 minutes away) to get cleaned up for meeting up with my friend, Regina.
While waiting for Regina to pick me up I had a cocktail and some nachos at the hotel (they have a happy hour from 5:30pm - 7:00pm) since I hadn't had anything since breakfast. The plan for the evening was to go to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo at Reliant Park. Regina got some tickets from her boss for entry to the rodeo and concert for a good price. The tickets were for Club level seats. When we first arrived we went in to the area and found our seats and then headed back outside to the carnival area. We got some things to eat and walked around. I took a few pictures and then we headed back in for the end of the rodeo and the concert. We got to see some barrel racing and mutton bustin' at the end of the rodeo. The concert was John Legend. It was a really good concert and I had never heard his music - I really enjoyed it and he performed for just over an hour. Regina and I had a great time hanging out but I didn't get back to the hotel until a little after 11:00pm - which made for a really long day. Don't get me wrong I had a blast but I am really tired and tomorrow is another busy day. Headed to Needville for T.A.L.E. 9 at Brazos Bend State Park.
