At this point we continued our journey into Houston. First we found a hotel and made reservations (still too early to check in) and then found something to eat. We found a great little deli near the hotel and had chicken and sausage gumbo. We then went to find dewberry's Cinderella's Slipper. Unfortunately we didn't find it. Next we went to C.C. Bell Park and found the Bell of Montrose letterbox.

Houston Bound
This morning I woke up tired. Yesterday was a fantastic day filled with so much activity and fun. I stayed up late last night to log in all my finds and to write my blog - so that is why i woke up tired. Let me tell you - it was so worth it. Thank you to Silver Eagle and Baby Bear for a wonderful event.
Astro D and I had plans to be in Houston tonight. So after breakfast we hit the road. First we drove to Warrenton, TX to find the World's Smallest Active Catholic Church. It was easy to find - just a little north of town, right off the main road. We took pictures and looked inside. A very simple church that we enjoyed visiting. After visiting the church we found dewberry's World's Smallest Letterbox. Once the box had been replaced we drove a little further north to Round Top. We went to The International Festival Institute at Round Top. We looked for a box but we were unable to find it. But the trip wasn't a total loss - the grounds of the institute are great. Next we made a stop in LaGrange, TX at Monument Hill State Historic Site to find Silver Eagle's ZZ Top Microbox and Baby Bear's Black Bean Letterbox. We enjoyed the history of the place and the boxes.

Astro D is a Rice University Alumni so we went to the Rice campus to visit and to check on her Sammy Returns! letterbox (unfortunately the box is missing). We also looked for and found Guido's Hand - Mi letterbox on the campus. From here we went to visit Astro D's friend Melinda and her husband Clark. They took us to the Museum of Fine Arts - Houston. We spent some time walking around, enjoying the art and talking. There is a new building at the museum and it is connected to the older part via a tunnel under Main Street that is an art installation in itself - it is a very cool piece. It is called "The Light Inside" by James Turrell. After leaving the museum we walked by Mecom Fountain. We looked for a letterbox but didn't find it. By this time we were hungry and Astro D wanted to eat at Ninfa's (but not any Ninfa's - it had to be the original one on Navigation Street). We had a great meal and nice conversation. By this time I was getting tired so we headed to the hotel and checked in. What a fun and busy day.
