Driving - Richardson to Canyon

I decided I wanted to get an early start today so I was up at 5:30am, dressed, breakfast, car loaded and a full cup of coffee. Ready to roll. I headed north on Hwy 75 and made my first stop of the day just a short distance of where I started. I found my first of six Puddle Splasher boxes in McKinney at McLarry Cemetery. It was 6:45am and semi dark and I was sitting on the ground in a cemetery stamping in. (Would that qualify as an obsession?) Before leaving McKinney I had also visited Scott Cemetery and Wear Cemetery. After six finds I took Hwy 380 west through Denton and stopped in Decatur at two cemeteries - Oaklawn and Bethel to find two jb kokopelli boxes. Another two finds and it was time to move on. I had a lot planned and a long way to go. So to recap - I spent my entire morning driving and visiting cemeteries. I think it turned out to be a nice morning.

I continued my drive north on Hwy 287 through Bowie, Wichita Falls and Vernon to Quanah. I then turned onto Hwy 6 and headed to Copper Breaks State Park. I checked on Silver Eagle's Quanah Parker box (which was there) and my Texas Longhorn box (which was missing). I have decided to retire that box since it had only recieved two visits in five years and it is too far out of the way for me to replace it. So I left the park a little disappointed that a box placed on a three mile round trip hike was missing and it had only been visited twice. Oh well, time to move on. I continued on Hwy 6 then turned onto Hwy 70 and drove through Paducah and Matador before heading north to Turkey. I found three boxes in Turkey and enjoyed my short visit to the small little town that was the home of Bob Wills. I left Turkey on Hwy 86 and drove until I reached I27. I reached my destination of Canyon and checked into the hotel.

It has been a long day and I am so tired. A good, hot shower and a nice comfy bed - that is all I need. Tomorrow I have a few things I want to do in Canyon and then it is home.

The vision of you sitting on the ground in the dark surrounded by your letterboxing supplies makes me giggle. Obsession indeed. :)
Texas 'boxers seem to hide a large number of letterboxes in cemeteries it seems. But Texas has some very beautiful cemeteries, especially compared to New Mexico.
