Yesterday was a whirlwind of activity - exchanges, lots of boxes, food, meeting people and etc., etc., etc. - and I loved it. I really had a great time at the event as I always do when I attend an event in Texas. But today and tomorrow will be much less hectic.
I awoke today and got things ready to go and loaded the car. After a quick breakfast I headed out to find a letterbox in a cemetery in Groesbeck. I had tried to get it yesterday afternoon but the gates to the cemetery were locked. So I went early this morning and got Baby Bear's Horsemen of the Plains. I was happy to see that I was the first finder.

As I arrived in Dallas I drove to the downtown area. I had clues for four boxes I wanted to look for. I only found one. Not sure about the others, they could be there - I just couldn't find them. And the areas were pretty busy. There were quite a few people mulling around and it made it hard to look for the boxes without being seen. But I did enjoy the downtown area. I visited Dealey Plaza (the area where Kennedy was shot), the Old Courthouse and Pioneer Plaza. All of these places were worth the trip. From downtown I headed north and stopped in at Sparkman-Hillcrest Memorial Park. There were four boxes here I looked for. I only found one here as well. Again, not sure about the ones I missed. The cemetery was pretty busy and it was hard to be discreet. I hope I just missed them and they are not missing. I did get to see the gravesites of Tom Landry, Greer Garson, Mary Kay Ash and Mickey Mantle.
So I left the cemetery and headed a little further north to Richardson. I came to Richardson to visit my friend from high school - Eddie. I first went to my hotel and checked in and rested a little. Then I called Eddie and I drove to his house. The day was really nice, sunny and warm. So we sat outside and visited for about two hours. Then we decided to go for dinner. He told me about this place called Boudreaux's. The perfect place for a couple of misplaced Cajuns. The food was excellent and we were able to sit and visit without being rushed. After we left the restaurant we decided we both wanted ice cream, so we found a Braum's and just sat and talked and enjoyed our dessert. By this time I was feeling pretty tired. My travels through Texas were starting to wear me down. So I dropped Eddie at his house and returned to the hotel. I went to bed early so I could be ready for tomorrow.

Monday, March 7
Today I slept in - really. I didn't get out of bed until 9:00am. I did wake up about 7:00am but I just laid in bed and read. Finally I got up and showered and dressed and then called Eddie. I met him at his house and we decided to go for a ride and ended up at IKEA. We walked the store and looked at all the thing we didn't need. We were both very good, we left the store without spending any money. After the shopping we ended up at a little park and walked around a small loop trail (no letterboxing was involved) and just talked. We found a nice shaded bench and just sat and enjoyed the day. I won't bore you with any other details - it wasn't an exciting day but it was a great day - I love spending time doing nothing with friends. Later we had dinner at The Twisted Root Burger (this place is just a few doors down from Boudreaux's) and had a great hamburger. After dinner I brought Eddie home and headed back to the hotel to get things organized for my trip toward home tomorrow.

Your visit sounded relaxing and fun. Dallas is one place I'd like to visit, too. Lots of history there. Thanks for sharing your trip.
