The Start of the Event

I slept in this morning - I am trying to catch up on sleep as I have been very busy since I left Santa Fe. This morning I took my time getting started and just relaxed at the hotel. About 10:00am I went out to find a couple of letterboxes that I missed yesterday. First I found a box at a rest area off of TX36 - this was a Renegade box and was easy to find. After stamping in and then replacing the box I drove to Brenham. I made my way to Hohlt Park to look for two boxes. Silver Eagles' 20 Questions Game 6 and Baby Bear's When Pigs Fly, Texas. Unfortunately I didn't find either of these boxes. One I think is missing and the other one I couldn't do a great check of the area because it was so overgrown. So I left Brenham and drove west on TX290. A little before Burton I exited at a picnic area to find Boots Tex's Flathead letterbox. I parked and was just ready to get out of my car when two other cars pulled in and the people got out and sat at the picnic tables. So I just sat in my car and waited, hoping that they would leave soon. Thankfully in less than 10 minutes both cars left and I was able to find the box without any problems. I stamped in and then replaced the box. After leaving the rest area I headed back toward Somerville. I decided I would stop and fill the car with gas and pick up a couple of things at a grocery store. Then I returned to the hotel where I ate some lunch and did some work on the computer. Around 2:00pm I decided to head to the park for the start of the event.
When I arrived at Lake Somerville State Park I went to the park office and paid my fees and grabbed some maps. Then I headed over to the Group Trailer Area where the event was being held. We had the whole area to ourselves which includes camping sites and the dining hall. Arriving at the group area I found that people had already set up their tents and when I went into the dining hall I found that there was food set up and people were getting the clue books put together. I helped in setting up tables and getting a few other things done. Then I grabbed one of the clue books and sat down to figure out where all the boxes were hidden. I first marked the pages with the boxes that were hidden in the immediate area and then I marked all the other boxes on the park map. I decided I was going to look for the boxes that were near the dining hall. So I set out on a letterboxing marathon. Some of the boxes were hidden in the immediate vicinity around the dining hall, some were hidden along the road leading to the Group Trailer Area (which isn't very long) and some were hidden on trails which started in the area. I ended up letterboxing until it started to get dark. At that time I returned to the dining hall and joined the group and we had hot dogs for dinner. Around 7:00pm I decided it was time to head back to the hotel for a shower and some rest. I did manage to find all the letterboxes that were hidden in the area that I had clues for so I felt good about that and decided that I would go early in the morning and start finding boxes in other areas.

So as a summary here is a list of the boxes I found today at the park . . .
