The Start of the Trip Home

Well this morning I started my drive back to Santa Fe. But before leaving Arizona I wanted to get one more county for Azroadie and Squatchis' county series - Cochise County. So when I left Tucson I took I10 and then exited at Benson and then took AZ80 through St. David and Tombstone before arriving in Bisbee. The town was pretty dead - I didn't see anyone until after I returned from my hike. I parked at the start of OK Street and walked up to the end then took a trail off to the right and followed the clues to find Squatchis' Arizona Counties: Cochise County. From the hiding spot of the box I had a great view of Bisbee and enjoyed the early morning quiet. After rehiding the box I made my way back down the trail and the road to my car. Finally I was seeing people. Unfortunately I wanted to be in Deming by early afternoon so I didn't have time to do too much in Bisbee. On the way back to Tombstone I went through a tunnel and then turned up a side road. I parked in a pullout and took a short walk to find Azroadie's Bisbee Pass. This was a quick and easy find and I was again on my way.

When I arrived in Tombstone I drove around the town a little but things still weren't open and I didn't want to sit around and wait so I headed back to Benson. I arrived in Benson and decided to fill the car with gas and get some breakfast. Then I returned to I10 and headed east back to New Mexico. I made a stop at the Texas Canyon Rest Area to find Bloomin' Gramma Jo's Think Cool Breezes box. It took me a little while to get the box because the place was very busy. Finally I nabbed it and took it back to the car and then after stamping in I replaced it. Back on I10 I didn't stop again until I crossed the border. Right after the border I pulled over at the New Mexico Welcome sign. Here I looked for Shorty's Welcome to New Mexico box. Unfortunately I didn't find it. So I got back on the road and drove for a ways and then left the interstate at exit 49 and took the frontage road. I stopped at the Continental Divide sign to look for Wronghat's Continental Divide box. I found it without a problem and stamped in while sitting in the car and when done I replaced the box and headed on.

The next part of my drive was uneventful and not very long and ended in Deming. When I arrived in Deming I tried to find Cookies and Quackers but was unsuccessful. I am pretty sure I was in the right spot but didn't find the box. So I continued on. My next stop was at Mountain View Cemetery. I found a two box series by Grumpy Grinch - Deming Delights. I didn't have any problems finding these boxes. When I was done I went in search of one more box before calling it a day. This box was hidden in the parking lot at Burger King. I easily found it but felt a little exposed as it is right at an intersection near the interstate. I was able to grab the box when the coast was clear and got back in the car to stamp in. It took me a few minutes to replace the box but finally the intersection cleared and I was able to hide the box. There were no other boxes in town to find so I found a little restaurant and had a quick dinner before heading to the hotel.

I am now resting and I will make the final part of the drive home tomorrow. There are a few boxes for me to look for along the way and I hope I can get them. It has been a good trip but I will be happy to be home.
