Well, it's time for me to leave
Cape Cod and make my way to
Rhode Island. So this morning I was up early so I could get on the road. I wanted to stop a few places on the way and try to make it to the hotel early and get some rest so that I would be ready for the weekend and W
anda and Pete's event.

I left West Yarmouth and headed to
Osterville. Scarab has three boxes planted in a cemetery and I wanted to look for them. The three boxes are Winged Deaths Head, The Empty Tomb and The Doomed Deacon. I found the cemetery easy enough but had some trouble finding the first landmark. Eventually I found the gravestone and things went well from there and I found the box. Then the second box started just like the first. Had a hard time locating the right gravestone but did eventually find it and finally found the second box. On to the third box. I followed the clues and found all the landmarks until I was near the hiding spot of the box. Then things fell apart. The clues suddenly didn't make sense and I couldn't find the last two landmarks. I searched the area but came up empty handed - I even retraced my steps to make sure I didn't miss anything. So I decided I had tried everything I could think of so I returned to my car and started driving again.
I had done some work on a few mystery boxes before I left Santa Fe and I decided to try looking for two of those boxes. I was about 85% sure I knew the spot. So I made my way there. Things started off well. The clues fell into place until I got to the last piece. I wasn't able to find a number and so I tried to fudge it - but I never found the hiding spot. So I tried for a second box that I thought was in the same area but was unable to find that one as well. But I did enjoy my visit to this area. It was very nice and peaceful.
Now to continue towards Rhode Island. So I crossed a bridge and left Cape Cod behind. My next stop was
Wareham. I decided to try for a couple of drive-bys. The first was The Beetle. It is hidden at
Beetle, Inc. where they make the
Beetle Cat Boat. I didn't get to see them working on any boats but I did find the box. After rehiding it I headed to Centre Cemetery. I found a box hidden by Jon of Gilead. It was a quiet cemetery and I was the only living person there. I walked around and easily found the box. I stamped in and rehid the box and was on my way again. While on my stop in Wareham I reached 1700 found boxes - woohoo!

My original plan was to stop two more places . . .
New Bedford and
Fall River. But at the last minute I decided not to stop and just continued on to
Providence. Once I got to Providence I made my way to the
State Capitol. I walked around the outside and took pictures and then went inside to look around. I really like this building - it is really beautiful and I enjoyed my visit. I still had a little ways to go to get to the hotel. It didn't take me long to get from Providence to
West Greenwich and I quickly found my hotel. I checked in and got settled then I went out again to get something to eat. Now I am relaxing and trying to figure out what I want to do tomorrow - Saturday will be all about letterboxing.
